KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. (WCJB) - A landmark building in Keystone Heights that had turned into an eyesore has come down.

The old China Chef building at the corner of State Roads 21 and 100 was torn down on Thursday.

City Manager Charlie Van Zant tells TV20 that although the building once housed thriving businesses, it has been empty for many years.

City leaders bought the property for less than $250,000 and hired a private contractor for the demolition.

Van Zant says a safer right-hand turn lane will be built at the intersection.
