Tony Brown

Tony Brown is a native of Keystone Heights. He was born at Bradford County Hospital in 1963 and is a graduate of Keystone Heights Jr/Sr High School, Class of 1981.

He started volunteering in his community at the age of 14 as a police explorer with the City of Keystone Heights Police Department. When the Police Department was disbanded, he followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a member of the Keystone Heights Volunteer Fire Deparment. The KHVFD made him a junior fireman at that time and when he turned 18 became an official volunteer fireman. He served for 25 years as an active volunteer holding positions of Lieutenant, Captain, Vice President and then President for three years.  He is grateful for the leadership skills that he was taught by the older firemen with whom he served. It has helped him today with the position he holds as Mayor of Keystone Heights.

He has served with Relay for Life as a board member and also chairman for two years.  He served on the board of the Clay County American Cancer Society for two years. He serves on the Our Country Day Committee, the North Florida Planning Council, and the North East Florida League of Cities and is a member of the Florida League of Mayors.

One of his favorite times of the year is Christmas when he as a member of the Lake Region Kiwanis gets to put on his jolly red suit and visit the local schools and stores and gets to ride on a big red fire truck in the city’s night time Christmas parade.

Before running for council, he served as Chairman of the Code Enforcement Board for the city. He first ran for city council in 1995 and served three years.  He ran again in 2006 and served as vice mayor for four years and then ran for mayor in 2014.

I has been married to his lovely wife Robin for 27 years and has three children and two grandchildren. His family roots go back to the start of Keystone Heights.  His grandfather was a brick mason/carpenter and would travel from Starke to Keystone Heights to work for Mr. Sargent, a local builder doing the fireplaces in most of the old homes and working on the Lodge at Park of the Palms.

He enjoys serving the people of Keystone Heights and the surrounding area and working to keep the family atmosphere while working with our lakes and environment to keep them clean for our children and their children to enjoy as he has for all these years.
